RICHLAND, WA - A teenager from Yakima is in the Benton County Jail after Police say they caught him red handed during a burglary.Richland Police say 18-year-old Juan P. Venegas broke into a house on the 1000 block of Pattyton Lane Wednesday morning using the doggie door.

Officers say an 18-year-old living there was home at the time of the break-in. He called 911 because Venegas was pounding on the front door.

Police say the first officer who arrived at the home bumped into Venegas as he was carrying an X-box, a camera, and several gaming controls out the front door. Officers say Venegas then dropped the electronics, ran into the house, went out the back door and led officers on a chase through the neighborhood.

Police say Venegas finally surrendered with his hands up when a Benton County K9 Unit started to close in on him and he was booked into the Benton County Jail on residential burglary charges.

Police photographed the the items Venegas had stolen and returned to the homeowner.  Police say Venegas may have watched the woman who lives in the house leave when he decided to burglarize the home.

Police say Venegas was reportedly arrested for a similar crime in Chicago in March of this year. Richland Police gave contacted Chicago Police and are awaiting information on any charges regarding their case.
