Fire Destroys Basement of Home in Yakima, Family Has No Where To Go

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA-- Firefighters are working on cleaning up a basement fire in a home on South 9th Avenue in Yakima Thursday morning.

Crews said two people were inside the house with two dogs, but were able to get out O.K.

However, firefighters said the flames got into the structure of the house causing more damage.  Now the people who lived there will not be able to return until the house is back up to code.

The family who lived in the house say they do not know where they can go while they get this cleaned up.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
