Leadership Spokane appoints Col. Newberry Executive Director

FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. - Colonel Brian Newberry was announced today by the Leadership Spokane Board of Trustees as the new Executive Director.

Newberry begins his new position on August 1st and is taking over for Linda Finney who retired at the end of June.

Colonel Newberry was the Commander of the 92nd Air Refueling Wing on the Fairchild Air Force Base. 

The wing provides global reach airpower and deploys expeditionary forces in support of worldwide combat, contingency, and humanitarian requirements. 

The wing operates 35 KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft performing air refueling, airlift and aeromedical evacuation missions supporting US and coalition contingency operations and USSTRATCOM strategic deterrence missions. 

As installation commander, he was also responsible for activities and assigned functions of Fairchild Air Force Base and support for 19 associate units.

Colonel Newberry was a command pilot with more than 4,300 flying hours and 397 combat hours in the C-17A, KC-135R/T, EC-135C, T-38 and T-37.

"I am delighted that Brian Newberry has accepted the Executive Director position.  He has the skills and experience needed to carry out the Board's Strategic Plan for Leadership Spokane.  He is well known in the region and I believe he can open doors and extend Leadership Spokane's presence in the community.  I'm looking forward to assisting him in his transition and am excited to see what he and the new team accomplish this coming year," Finney said.
