KENNEWICK, WA- The number of people attending Water Follies was up this year from a year ago.

The event reached their goal and saw a slight increase compared to last year’s decrease.  They hoped to reach into the 65,000 range.

“We were down a little bit last year.  This year we were back up in the 65,000 mark, which is what we were shooting for.  Of course, we'd like to see more, but maybe that will happen in 2015 on our 50th anniversary,” said Water Follies director Kathy Powell.

The races also saw a few more incidents handled by the police this year than in the past, but organizers said it was an overall successful weekend for fans and the racing teams.

Officials hope to see a steady increase over the years and for their 50th anniversary in 2015.
