SPOKANE, Wash. -- Seth Spivey moved to the top spot in the Northwest League batting title race, Saquan Johnson connected for three hits and the Spokane Indians topped the Vancouver Canadians, 6-2, for the second night in a row, at Avista Stadium in front of 5,031 fans.

Johnson, who finished 3-for-4 on the night, put the game away in the eighth inning with a two-RBI single between first and second with the bases loaded. Johnson is batting .333 in his past ten games, collecting 12 hits and seven RBI in the span.

Spokane (3-4, 28-17) got on board first after Seth Spivey was hit home by Jose Trevino’s double in the second inning. Pepe Cardona hit his own RBI double right after, scoring Trevino for an early 2-0 lead. Marcus Greene was hit by a pitch in the fifth inning, Spivey crushed a triple to center field for his third hit of the night. Spivey then scored on a wild pitch by Vancouver (2-5, 27-18) pitcher Andrew Case.

Spivey now leads the Northwest League with a batting average of .368, surpassing teammate Eduard Pinto. Pinto, who sat out for 10 games due to a wrist injury, returned to the lineup and went 0-for4.

Indians starter Andrew Barnett gave up just one earned run in his five innings. Barnett (3-1) struck out four while lowering his ERA to 4.29. The bullpen performance of Nick Dignacco, Chris Dula and Adam Parks allowed a single hit in the final four innings.
