YAKIMA, WA.- With todays economy leaving many jobless, one company is proud to say they are still going strong after 50 years.

Yakima Specialties celebrated its 50th anniversary Wednesday. The company works to employ people with special needs and helps those with disabilities to enhance their work skills.

They celebrated the anniversary today with a picnic and guided tours of the facility. Jobs range from building specialty crates and palettes for their clients to janitorial services. They even have a laundry facility that employs over 25 people.

Even after two recessions the company is stronger than ever and organizers at the event say it just keeps growing.

Lyle Okcer, Yakima Specialties Job Developer, told us at the event today, "The company just keeps growing and growing. We're working on a monster janitorial account that will help to create 14 new jobs in the community."

Yakima Specialties even has an employment support team that helps those with disabilities find and secure jobs in the community. They give them the support they need to maintain and succeed at these jobs.

Those working at Yakima Specialties say they are excited for the their next big project and can't wait to celebrate the next 50 years.
