RICHLAND, WA - The journey for one homeless, injured dog is far from over.

A viewer posted the KNDU Facebook page Monday about a german shepherd mix found in Finely in need of help and shelter from this heat, so volunteers from Mikey's Chance came to Trooper's rescue.

Nobody knows where this german shepherd came from but what rescuers do know is that he's a trooper from the looks of what he's been through.

But their work is far from over with trooper and the other homeless dogs they are trying to help.

"We are looking for a permanent foster home for Trooper. He does need to spend a little bit more time in recovery. He's not going to be immediately available for adoption, he does still need to be neutered and vaccinated but we always have a need for forster homes, always," said Justyne Corso, President, Mikey's Chance.

Corso says they were able to get trooper the medical attention he needed through the Fix Machine Animal Clinic in Kennewick. Though the cost is discounted for Mikey's Chance, it still cost them money.
