SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Indians fell to the Hillsboro Hops in Game 5 of the five-game series, 12-6, in front of 4,098 fans at Avista Stadium. It was the Breast Cancer Awareness Day Game presented by Mike’s Hard Pink Lemonade, Rock 94 ½ and KXLY Newsradio 920. All players wore special edition pink jerseys that will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting the Eastern Washington Chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Kevin Cron hit a two-run home run for the Hops to take an early 3-0 lead in the fifth inning. In the sixth, Nate Robertson stole home plate on a double steal and Steve Nyisztor singled in a run. Hillsboro would add three two-out runs in the eighth and three more in the ninth.

In the fifth, Spokane got on the board after Seth Spivey hit a single to right field to score Isiah Kiner-Falefa from second. A throwing error on the same play scored Pinto from first and advanced Spivey to second. After a Luke Tendler single, Marcus Greene Jr. hit home Spivey. In the eighth, Pepe Cardona doubled home Greene.

Spokane added two more runs in the final inning in a comeback attempt after Spivey and Greene both added their second RBIs of the night. As a team, the Indians left nine runners on base. Spivey and Greene raised their batting average to .349 and .318, respectively.

Indians starter Nick Gardewine gave up four earned runs in 4.2 innings. The right hander has given up 20 runs in his past four starts compared to 11 in his first six outings.

The Spokane Indians head to the Northwest League All-Star break. The Indians will be represented in Eugene for the midsummer classic by a league-high eight all-star selections: Jose Trevino, Tendler, Spivey, Eduard Pinto, Greene Jr., Richelson Pena, Shane McCain and Johnny Fasola.
