KENNEWICK, WA- PF Chang’s partnered with two local organizations to collect donated items for troops.

The Guardians of Freedom and Operation Thank You partnered with PF Chang’s Friday to Sunday to encourage people to donate any items they could such as baked goods, new clothing, and any other products that troops and veterans are in need of.

This year was the restaurant’s first time partnering to donate to troops and it is something they will consider in the future.

“We've met some amazing people and had some great partnerships.  I hope that we get to do this every year,” said PF Chang’s manager Jennifer McCauley.

The event was also something the organizations wanted to do in order to bring awareness to others to help soldiers and veterans.

“For the community, it's just awareness of what's going on and letting our veterans know that we're here to support them,” said Amy Withers, founder of the Guardian of Freedom.

Michelle Shaw served in the military for many years and helped out Operation Thank You.

“It's very important because the soldiers over there don't have everything they need.  They don't have these things, but getting care packages is very uplifting for these soldiers,” said Shaw

PF Chang’s donated 20% of profits made from all food and beverages to Guardians of Freedom and some of the donations will also help those wounded in Afghanistan.

“We just love to be a part of bringing people together and showing our gratitude and support for those who serve for us,” said McCauley.

PF Chang's also gave out gift cards with each donation and discounts to anyone who served in the military.
