PENDLETON, Ore. - A Pendleton man is in custody after a three hour standoff along SE Goodwin Avenue.
Pendleton police received a phone call Monday evening of a man sticking a handgun in the faces of two other men. He then barricaded himself inside a nearby apartment. Officers arrived, surrounded the area, and began evacuating neighboring residents.
Ean Pierce, 26, refused to talk with officers or leave the home for three hours. Pendleton SWAT eventually arrived with an armored vehicle and as that happened Pierce came out of the front door unarmed. Officers ordered him to the ground and arrested him without incident.
Officers transported Pierce to the Pendleton Police Department for interviews.
Police obtained a search warrant to look through the apartment. They recovered a handgun which matched the description of the gun Pierce used earlier that day. They also found heroin, methamphetamine, packaging material, and other drug paraphernalia.
Pierce is currently being held at the Umatilla County Jail for a probation violation warrant. He is facing additional charges for ex-felon in possession of a firearm, pointing a firearm at another, menacing, frequenting a place where controlled substances are used, and possession of a controlled substance.
Evacuated residents were allowed to return to their homes after midnight.
