Posted: Updated:
PASCO, WA. - A man who posed as an immigration attorney in Franklin County will spend another year behind bars.

Jose Antonio Martinez pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of extortion and one count of unlawful practice of law. Martinez will now spend 364 days in prison, the maximum sentence for unlawful practice of law. He has credit of already serving 689 days.

As part of the plea deal, a restitution hearing will be set where victims will be able to seek reimbursement for their losses. Some victims had even been deported because of Martinez's defective misrepresentations.

The Prosecuting Attorney's Office is working with the victims who believed they were following the legal process.
