SELAH, WA. - The Yakima County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a Naches man crashed his car Thursday into a power pole in Selah.

Deputies say the 52-year-old driver drove off the roadway on the 1520 block of No. Wenas Road. He hit a power pole, causing power lines to fall across the roadway. This caused some local power outages.

After investigating, deputies found the driver passed out possibly from prescription medication use. The vehicle then left the roadway, hit the power pole, and then continued through a chain link fence, across and lawn, and then hitting a retaining wall.

A dog was also thrown from the car but was found and appeared to be okay.

Paramedics transported the driver to a hospital with minor injuries. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
