Man arrested for driving car into Spokane River

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane police arrested one man for driving a car into the Spokane River while arguing with a woman in the car with him.

50-year-old Rex L. Pollock was booked into Spokane County Jail early Sunday. Before 6 a.m. Pollock called police and said his car that he had just driven into the river was stolen and crashed by someone else.

Officers say Pollock was driving recklessly and arguing with the unidentified woman when he drove off the road where Cincinnati comes to a dead end, just south of the Trent Bridge. The car crashed in about 5 feet of water 25 feet from shore.

Authorities  took the woman to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police booked Pollock into Spokane County Jail for reckless endangerment, domestic violence and providing false information to officers.

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office worked through the morning to recover the vehicle.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The CIA director says he thinks the disclosure of America's secret intelligence is on the rise - partly due to what he calls the "worship" of leakers such as Edward Snowden.      That's what Mike Pompeo says in a TV interview as he expresses his belief that there seems to be an increase in the theft of U.S. secrets "'for the purpose of self-aggrandizement or money or for whatever their motivation may be."
