Kitchen Crew Makes Sure Snag Canyon Firefighters Spirits Stay High

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, Wa.- As fire crews continue to battle the Snag Canyon fire, many are working to help keep firefighter morale up.

With over 900 people now working on the line and at the command center the kitchen crew has an important job to do, that is a lot of mouths to feed.

Those working on preparing the meals say part of keeping spirits high is making sure everyone stays hydrated and full of good food.

"Food is a big piece of the moral for a firefighter that's why its really important we have good meals that are hot and ready and the lines stay short," says Geoff Aschoff the camp superintendent.

It's a big job though, we asked about just how much food it is, and w were told feeding over 900 people can require 80 gallons of gravy, 800 pounds of pot roast and more than 2-thousand bread rolls for just a single meal.
