SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - UPDATE:

The Spokane Valley Fire Department has confirmed with KHQ that two people matching the description of the owners of a home in Spokane Valley were found dead in a car in Benewah County on Friday.

Bill Clifford with the Spokane Valley Fire department said the man and woman were found deceased in a car matching the couple's description at a cemetery.

The cause of death is unknown at this time, but will be determined by the medical examiner either in Spokane or Benewah County.

Previous coverage:

Authorities are still searching for John and Sandy Tiffany after a fire destroyed their Spokane Valley home Thursday. The couple are in their 60's, and haven't been seen since since their house caught fire just before 4:00 pm. Police ruled the fire arson, but the John and Sandy are still missing.

A neighbor told KHQ she saw the couple's white KIA Sorento drive off moments before the fire broke out.

Police have not ruled out any scenario, saying they don't know if the couple lit the fire or if someone else did, and perhaps the couple were forced off their property.

Spokane Valley Fire says they are working on getting a photograph of the couple for media.

Previous coverage:
Spokane Valley firefighters were called out to a house fire on 16th and Bettman just west of the Dishman Hills area Thursday afternoon.

Neighbors called 911 after they said they heard an explosion and then saw smoke coming from the home next door.

Firefighters arrived on scene and were able to contained the fire to the basement.

Investigators say the fire was intentionally set, and Mako, the department's arson dog found several spots throughout the home where accelerants were used to start and or spread the fire.

No one was home at the time and fire investigators say they are searching for the homeowners and are concerned for their safety. Anyone with any information on where the homeowners are is asked to call the fire department at 509-928-1700.
