Walsh Talks to Ranchers While Plagiarism Probe Begins

Posted: Updated:

Ranchers and cattlemen met on Friday in Billings to discuss issues they'll be facing in the future.

Senator John Walsh was there to listen.

One rancher talked about the Farm Bill and how it has to happen because it has so many tie ins.

But, he also says it's a five year plan and that's too short to look at farm policy.

Another issue discussed was beef imports from Brazil and the risk of disease.

The ranchers say some of the old policies are not needed because U.S. ranchers can do it better and cheaper.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Army College began investigating the plagiarism accusations against Senator Walsh.

Walsh would not talk about that issue.

A spokesperson for the college says no information will be released until the process is complete.

In July -- the New York Times found Walsh used someone else's work without properly attributing it while earning his master's degree.

Walsh did admit the mistake and apologized.

He chose not to appear before the board or submit documents in his defense.

The Department of Defense will review the board's findings and then a decision will be handed down regarding what will happen next.
