BILLINGS, Mont. -

After Thursday's tragic outcome to a high speed chase, local law enforcement authorities are reminded just how dangerous their job can be.

Sheriff Mike Linder says that even though he didn't know deputy his thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the unfortunate event.

"It's a sad day for law enforcement. It's tragic anytime we lose an officer in the line of duty. Any kind of first responder, whether it be law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire, whatever, it just gives everybody pause to reflect on just how dangerous these jobs are and that we need to be careful and make sure that we watch out for each other," says Yellowstone County Sheriff Mike Linder.

Linder says when services for the fallen deputy take place, there will be representation from the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office.

Billings Police Chief Rich St. John says that BPD will also send a representative to the funeral services and will honor Deputy Dunn with black bands over their badges.
