Gonzaga Basketball Announces WCC Schedule

 SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Gonzaga University's men's basketball team will open West Coast Conference place with three road games to begin defense of its WCC regular-season title as the 2014-15 conference slate was announced Monday.

The race for the WCC regular-season crown will be contested over a 10-week span and consist of a double round-robin format.

The Bulldogs open the season Dec. 27 at BYU in a re-match of the 2014 WCC Tournament title game won by the Zags. Gonzaga will be at the University of San Diego Dec. 29 and at the University of Portland Jan. 3.

The WCC home debut for the Zags comes Jan. 8 when the University of San Francisco visits, followed by Santa Clara University Jan. 10. Gonzaga will play three straight home games in the middle of the WCC campaign, Jan. 22 against Saint Mary's College, Jan. 24 against the University of the Pacific and Jan. 29 when the University of Portland comes to the McCarthey Athletic Center.

The regular season ends the weekend of Feb. 26-28 with USD in town Feb. 26 followed by BYU Feb. 28.

The WCC Tournament at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas will be March 5-10.

Gonzaga's complete non-conference schedule, television schedule and game times will be announced when finalized.

    • Cougs complete comeback to beat Saint Joseph's 75-71

      Flynn hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 5 seconds remaining, lifting WSU to a 75-71 victory over Saint Joseph's after the Cougars rallied from a 20-point first-half deficit.

    • Idaho beats Santa Clara to advance in Great Alaska Shootout

      It took another come-from-behind effort but Idaho got it done in the first round of the Great Alaska Shootout, defeating Santa Clara 69-59.

    • Eagles roll past Eastern Kentucky 83-62

      Eastern Washington held the Colonels to 34.5 percent shooting from the field in improving to 3-3 on the season.

    • Eagles lose big to No. 10 Oregon, 81-40

      Eastern struggled from field goal range, only shooting 30.2% on the night while the Ducks shot 58%.

    • Alex Grinch named Broyles Award semifinalist

      Grinch, in his third year as the Cougars defensive coordinator, has taken the WSU defense into elite status. WSU enters the week No. 11 in the country in total defense (303.8).

    • Cougars to face Huskies in 2017 Apple Cup Saturday

      Washington State is 9-2 for the first time since 2003 and is looking for its fifth 10-win season in program history (1997, 2001, 2002, 2003).
