UPDATE: Snag Canyon Fire Near Ellensburg at 87% Containment

UPDATE/NEAR ELLENSBURG, WA. - The Snag Canyon Fire near Ellensburg is now 87% contained.

A total of 524 firefighters are continuing to battle the 12,667 acre blaze. 22 structures have burned in the fire, including 10 homes.

Crews are continuing to control and mop up 200 feet inside control lines. They are also patrolling spots along the fire's edge on the uncontrolled lines.

Road closures remain in place at this time for fire personnel and vehicles.

NEAR ELLENSBURG, WA. - Firefighters are continuing to make progress on a fire burning north of Ellensburg in Kittitas County.

The Snag Canyon Fire is now 81% contained. As of noon on Tuesday, the Kittitas County Emergency Operations Center removed all evacuation notices. Road closures however, will remain in place due to fire personnel and equipment in the area.

Current road closures are at Smithson Road and Robbins Road, Wilson Creek and Naneum Roads at Charlton Road, Cooke Canyon and Colockum Roads at Gage Road, and Reecer Creek Road at Forest Service Road 3500.  Local traffic is permitted on these roads.  Schnebly Canyon, Coleman Canyon, and the Naneum State Forest are also still closed at this time.  The Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest also has an Area Closure adjacent to the fire.
