Fort Simcoe State Park Closes Due to Recent Bear Activity

Posted: Updated:
WHITE SWAN, WA. - The Yakama Indian Nation is partnering up with Washington State Parks to relocate multiple bears near White Swan.

Fort Simcoe State Park just outside White Swan has been closed because of recent bear activity. Park officials say the issue isn't bears approaching people, but people approaching the bears while trying to get pictures.

Up to nine black bears have been spotted in the park. It is also mating season which makes the bears extra territorial.

The park may reopen in September.
