TOPPENISH, WA - A man is recovering from non-life threatening gun shot wounds after deputies say he was shot while walking on Larue Road Monday evening.

The Yakima County Sheriff's Office said the shooting happened around 3:45 to 4 p.m.

They said a 22-year-old victim was shot at from what he described as a small, dark, possibly four door car at the intersection of Casey Road.

Deputies say the front passenger fired three or four shots at the victim.  One of the shots struck the victim in his left leg.  They say the car then continued eastbound on Larue Rd toward Hwy 22.  The victim then hid in the bushes and called friends to come pick him up.  When his friends arrived, they transported him to the Toppenish Hospital where law enforcement was contacted.

The victim said he believes there were up to three people in the car, he also said the driver might be Hispanic, but he did not know why he was being shot at.
