Suspect Charged with Homicide in Deputy's Death

Posted: Updated:

The man suspected of hitting and killing a Cascade County Sheriff's Deputy Joe Dunn is now charged with deliberate homicide in Dunn's death.

Documents released today from the Great Falls Police Department say Adam Sanchez Jr. "knowingly swerved his vehicle toward Deputy Dunn." They go on to say "at no point did it appear Sanchez employed his brakes." Officers interviewed a witness who was driving the other direction when she saw the chase coming toward her. She told officers she thought it was "a deliberate act" and that she "witnessed Sanchez' vehicle swerve at Deputy Dunn and strike him."

Dunn was outside of his vehicle at the time of the incident. He was pronounced dead at a local emergency room.

Deputy Dunn is being remembered today with a memorial service in Great Falls.
