One year later: remembering murder victim Delbert Belton

SPOKANE, Wash.- Friday marked one year since World War II veteran Delbert "Shorty" Belton was killed. On August 22nd, 2013, Belton was beat to death in his car, outside of Eagle's Lodge in the 6400 block of N. Lidgerwood Ave.

One year after Belton's death, friends gathered outside Eagle's lodge to remember their friend. They also presented a $3,000+ check to Honor Flights of the Inland Northwest in Belton's name. Honor Flight is a program that takes World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. Friends say Belton had always wanted to go on an Honor Flight, but never got the chance.

Spokane police arrested Demetrius Glenn and Kenan Adams Kinard, both 16-years-old, for Belton's murder. Both were charged with First Degree Murder and First Degree Robbery. Both have turned 17-years-old while being held in juvenile detention. Their trials have been pushed back four times, but it is now set for November 10, 2014.
