UPDATE: Medical Issue Caused Teenager to Hit Two Pedestrians

UPDATE / KENNEWICK, WA - Kennewick Police say a teenage girl may have had a medical issue that caused her to lose control of her car, and crash into two pedestrians. 

Police say 16-year-old Tara N. Batey is from Pasco. The case is still under investigation, officers hope toxicology and medical reports will shed more definitive light on the exact cause of the collision.

/ KENNEWICK, WA - Kennewick Police say a woman has now died from her injuries after she was hit by a car. 
Officers say 26-year-old Raquel Middleton died overnight Sunday into Monday morning at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. Paramedics took her to the hospital in critical condition on Saturday after police say a 16-year-old girl crashed into her. Middleton had been walking on the sidewalk near Gage and Center Parkway.
Police say once the investigation is over, it will be forwarded to the Benton County Prosecutor's Office for review of any charges.

KENNEWICK, WA - The Kennewick Police traffic division is still investigating a pedestrian vs. vehicle crash. One victim, Raquel Middleton, remained in critical condition at Kadlec Regional Medical Center on Sunday. The second person hit was treated and released Saturday night. Medics transported the 16-year-old girl driving the car to Trios Health after the crash but because she is a minor we cannot get an update on her condition.KENNEWICK, WA - Two people are injured after getting hit by a car Saturday just before 5 p.m. Kennewick Police say the driver of the car was a 16-year-old girl. 

Officers were called to the roundabout at W. Gage Boulevard and N. Center Parkway on reports of a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash. When they arrived, they found 26-year-old Raquel Middleton lying in the road unconscious. A physician happened to be in the area and assisted officers with CPR. Another victim, 30-year-old Ty Cornwell, got a cut on his arm.

Police report that witnesses said the teen girl's car was seen swerving across all lanes on Gage Boulevard at a high rate a speed right before the crash. Investigators on scene say the girl's car jumped the curb going the wrong way at Gage on Louisiana Street. At that time, the car hit Middleton and Cornwell who were on the sidewalk. The car ended up in the middle of the round-a-bout, hitting one of the large rocks placed there. The airbags deployed. The teen driver was also hurt.

Medics transported the two pedestrians to Kadlec Regional Medical Center for treatment. Cornwell has non life threatening injuries. Middleton is listed in critical condition right now. The teen driver was sent to Trios Health for treatment of unknown injuries. There are officers at both hospitals working on the investigation. 

Kennewick Police detectives and the traffic safety team are still at the scene of the crash. There is no estimated re-opening time.
