Dust Devils Hang On for 4-3 Win over Hillsboro

PASCO, WA - The Tri-City Dust Devils swung some hot bats Tuesday night on their way to a 4-3 victory over the Hillsboro Hops at Gesa Stadium.  The Dust Devils' (16-16 2nd half, 30-40 overall) first four hits went for extra bases, including three doubles and a home run.

Right fielder Denzel Richardson hit his first home run of the season in the second inning, giving the Dust Devils an early lead. Richardson finished the night going 1-for-3 with a walk, the home run and an RBI. Left fielder Drew Weeks went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, an RBI, a walk and a run scored. First baseman Sean Dwyer went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Tri-City starter Ryan Castellani (1-2) was fantastic Tuesday night. Castellani went five innings and allowed just one run on two hits. He struck out four and walked one on his way to his first professional win.

Reliever Josh Michalec closed the game out for Tri-City. Michalec pitched the final two innings without allowing a run. He gave up two hits and struck out three while earning his eighth save of the season.

Hillsboro (21-11 2nd half, 43-27 overall) starter Markus Solbach (2-1) took the loss. Solbach went six innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on six hits. He had four strikeouts and didn't walk a batter in his outing.

Shortstop Justin Gonzalez drove in two of the three runs for the Hops with a 7th inning homer. Gonzalez went 1-for-4 on the night with the homer and a pair of strikeouts.

The Dust Devils and Hops will play the middle game of this five game series Wednesday night at Gesa Stadium. Southpaw Helmis Rodriguez (4-7) will make the start for Tri-City, and he will take on righty Felipe Perez (3-0) for the Hops.
