KENNEWICK, WA - One of the Kennewick School District's oldest schools will soon be a pile of rubble. Eastgate Elementary opened its doors back in 1953. Now, those doors and everything else are being torn down.
Demolition began this week and will likely last for several weeks. Where it stands now is where the new school's sports fields will go. Behind it, construction has already begun on a new $14-million school. It's being paid for with money from the bond voters passed in 2009.
