KENNEWICK, WA - A woman faces assault charges after police say she hit her soon-to-be ex-husband with a truck.

Kennewick Police say 27-year-old Nikki Hinkle went to pick up items from 35-year-old Mark Hinkle's house on the 2300 block of West 8th Place Wednesday night. The two are going through a divorce, and started to argue.

Officers say Mark Hinkle was standing outside his wife's truck, when she started to back out of the driveway. As her husband moved into the middle of the street, officers say the woman accelerated and hit him in the hip as he tried to jump out of the way. Police say the man was spun around and thrown to the ground, and the truck ran over his leg.

Police say a witness followed the woman who drove several blocks before she stopped.

Mark Hinkle was taken to the Trios ER with bumps, bruises, and some road rash, but his injuries are not serious.

Police arrested Nikki Hinkle and booked her into the Benton County Jail. She faces charges second degree assault and domestic violence with an aggravated enhancement.
