Gunners Present Check to the Jubilee Leadership Academy

KENNEWICK, WA - The Gunners chapter of Business Network International presented a check for $14,405 to teens and representatives from the Jubilee Leadership Academy during their meeting Thursday.

The group raised the funds during their 3rd annual golf tournament and silent auction. Over the last three years the golf tournament has raised $45,000 to help troubled teens at Jubilee Leadership Academy.

"The stories you hear from these young boys touch your heart and compel you to commit more time and the desire to be involved," says Ron Swanby, past Gunners' president who helped start the tournament in 2012.

The funds will help equip the academy's community service teams with lawn mowers, work gloves, shovels, tools and other equipment and transportation needs, allowing them to teach servant-leadership principles through community service.

Last year, teens at the academy logged more than 144 hours of community service. Money also goes toward scholarships for teens to attend the academy and help with capital projects.
