To mark World Tourism Day on the 27th of September, PhotoAbility has put together a special gallery of Inclusive Images featuring people with a disability traveling all over the world to encourage editors and advertisers to include people with a disability in their promotions.
(PRWEB) August 29, 2014
World Tourism Day is celebrated every year on the 27th of September to highlight the impact tourism has on the social, cultural and economic values of the world economy.
With an ageing population and the retiring Baby Boomer generation, people with a disability are becoming an increasingly significant proportion of the tourism market. It is estimated that by 2020, the total tourism spend by travelers with a disability with be in excess of 25% of the total tourism spend.
"Travelers with a disability are like any other group of people; with their own set of dreams and aspirations. To attract those customers, tourism operators need to start reflecting them in their marketing." said Bill Forrester Co-Founder of PhotoAbility
This growing market is largely ignored in tourism advertising material.
To celebrate World Tourism Day PhotoAbility has created a special World Tourism Day Gallery featuring some of its best travel imagery. This gallery is to encourage advertisers and editors to feature travelers with a disability in their advertising or editorial content.
Between now and the 27th of September PhotoAbility is offering a promotional discount of 25% off the price of all images in the World Tourism Day Gallery. 25% is the same percentage that Accessible Tourism will represent of the total tourism market.
Travel organizations, or destinations that take the time to understand the needs of the disabled traveler and start viewing a disabled traveler as an individual customer will gain a competitive advantage over the rest of the industry. Imagery that includes people with a disability in mainstream marketing materials and editorial content sends a very clear and powerful message that a destination not only welcomes them, but wants their business.
PhotoAbility was established in March 2012 by Bill Forrester and Deborah Davis with the goal of providing high quality, unique, non-medically oriented imagery of persons with disabilities for purchase by the advertising, marketing and media sectors. The Commercial Stock Image Library specializes in positive and "Inclusive images of people with a disability in leisure, lifestyle and travel settings.
The 2000+ inclusive images depicted in the PhotoAbility gallery are designed to impact attitudinal bias, change perception and provide motivation to eliminate and reduce social, structural and professional barriers. A wave of change reflected in popular media, and advertising can make an impact on laws and attitudes around the globe and on how many with differing abilities view themselves.
