FIFE, Wa. - A judge is expected to hear arguments today over whether or not cities in Washington can ban marijuana businesses.

A man who wants to open a marijuana shop in Fife has sued the city saying its ban on pot businesses is not allowed.

The city stands by its decision to remain pot shop free. It says that if the state law doesn't allow local bans, then the judge should question whether or not the states new system of licensed marijuana growers, processors and stores conflicts with the federal marijuana law.

State Attorney General Bob Ferguson says Fife's argument is strong and poses a threat to legal marijuana in Washington.
