PASCO, WA - A man from Pasco is in the Franklin County Jail after police say he pointed a gun at officers. Police said Christopher Murphy, 40 was involved in an argument at a home on the 1200 block of Road 68 Thursday night. When officers arrived, Murphy came outside carrying a shotgun and displayed it towards them.
Police said the officer fired his weapon multiple times at Murphy, who then went back inside. No one got hurt, and Murphy later came outside so police could arrest him.
He faces felony assault charges and court order violations.
Neighbors we met with Friday were first concerned for Murphy's parents. They say the man lives in his own space in the back of his parents home. Neighbors say, he's had run-ins with police in the past and they were worried the parents could have been hurt.
"Last night I heard him demanding a gun from his parents, using language that we can't use here. After hearing that a couple times and hearing some commotion and rustling around and things being thrown around I came in the house and called 911," said Kirby Turley who lives next door and made the 911 call.
Officers searched the home and the Metro Drug Task Force was called in because officers believe illegal substances could have been involved.
