PASCO, WA - Students have only been in the school for a few days, but over at the new Rosalind Franklin STEM Elementary in Pasco they're getting their hands dirty.

The kids are involved in more hands-on activities that gets their brains working on their own. Teachers say they love seeing the kids take interest in what they are working on.

While there aren't many science, technology, engineering and math elementary schools* out there, the principal tells us they have a chance to do things that no other school can.

"I want kids to walk away from school each day wondering 'how did that happen? I'm curious about that.' Just really asking their own questions. It's not so much about us asking them questions, it's about them developing their own questions about phenomenon they see in the world," said Principal Deidre Holmberg.

The school also embraces technology in the classroom by letting the kids use tablets to record their work.
