KENNEWICK, WA - They've been working on bringing it here for over a decade and now the Gesa Carousel of Dreams is set to open this week.

This Friday will be the first day the public can visit the one of a kind carousel. Doors will open at 11 a.m and close at 7 p.m. The carousel will operate with those hours Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at least for the first month.

Much of the carousel horses are antique and were carved by a world-renowned craftsman named Charles Carmel. Many parts of the carousel are also freshly carved and display images of our region taken by a local photographer.

The founders of the attraction hope it will become a destination for visitors to our area.

"I've found out over the years, I don't care if you're 3 or 103 you're either going to watch it, ride it or both. I just think it brings peace and tranquility to the world," explained Ken Johanning who is one of the “founders” of the carousel.

In it's first month the carousel will also be completely volunteer operated. The hope is that with donations that have already come in and once the attraction has been operating that it will begin to pay for itself. The other members of the carousel board say they'd like it to be a gift to the community that's “debt free”.
