Hawks Nest Shows Family Spirit in NFL Opener

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, WA. -- It was loud at the "Hawks Nest" as they cheered on the defending Superbowl Champion Seahawks in the opening week of the NFL season on Thursday. And while it's a lot of fun and games here, it is also more than just football.

Fans in the Hawks Nest were back at it this evening. Dressed literally from head to toe, these fans were ready for some long awaited football action.

"I couldn't wait all day," Sean McCray, creator of the Hawks Nest said. "I was ready for work to be done. Seemed like the day dragged too long and we're definitely ready."

Sean McCray and his family has spent 5 years and thousands of dollars putting this room together. There hardly isn't an inch of the wall that isn't covered in some type of Hawks memorabilia.

"Aw man it's home away from home out here," Sean said. "Seahawks all the way around the board, it's a good feeling."

For the McCray's and everyone else who comes to Hawks nest to enjoy a game, it's more than just shared love of the Seahawks. It's a sense of family.

"You're more at home here than anywhere else," one guest said. "It's like a family here than at the bar. And i enjoy it here."

"It's been passed down from my old man and we have too much fun," Sean said. "Good people, good food, good drinks. That's what we do around here."

While the Hawks Nest brings these diehards together in one room each week, it's their smiles and laughter that makes them friends. And that lasts longer than football season.

The Hawks Nest plans to be packed every week to cheer on the Seahawks and win or lose, they all plan to have a good time with friends and family.
