KENNEWICK, WA- Neighbors near Reata Road and Vaca Road might have spotted a cougar Wednesday morning.

The neighbors are still in shock about a wild animal being on the loose.  They are unclear if it was actually a cougar or if it was a bobcat.  They just know there was something unusual in the neighborhood.

Some residents have spotted other animals running around but never a cougar in this neighborhood.

“As far as a cougar, I've never heard of it until now,” said Andrew Jackson who lives in the neighborhood.

Jackson thinks it may have been a bobcat because he has seen them around that area, but another neighbor said she actually heard the animal.  she said it was about 4 a.m. when she heard loud noises outside her window.  Her neighbor that saw the animal later told her what happened.

“It sounded like it was in the road and it sounded like it was a cat, but it was different than the cats I've heard before,” said Chris Tano.

The neighbor that actually saw the animal said he saw it by his tree and it ran into the bushes.  He also said it was about the size of a dog and had bright yellow eyes.

Residents in that area will be on the look out for more sightings.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife are still investigating the incident.
