KENNEWICK, WA- The Columbia Center Mall helped kids get ready for school by hosting a free Kidgits Back to School event Saturday.

The Columbia Center had back to school themed activities for kids to do.  Parents had a chance to take a shopping break to let their kids have some fun by creating paper mustaches and other crafts.

Kids were taught about healthy snack options they can use throughout the school year.  Kidgits members also got a free jumbo pen at the event.

“They're making bookmarks, they're making a clock, they're creating apples on the trees that tell what they want to be when they grow up, and they're given a healthy snack from Old Country Buffet,” said Kelly Odland, Columbia Center Guest Services Manager.

The event was Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.  The mall puts on the Kidgits Back to School event every year in August or September right around the time school is starting to encourage kids for the upcoming school year.
