Yakima Trolleys Hires New Executive Director To Increase Tourism

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, WA.- Summer is drawing to a close, but one of Yakima's oldest traditions is staying open a little longer this year.

The Yakima Valley Trolleys have remained unchanged for the past 100 years, they offer rides during the week and tours of the city.

But this past summer, they hired a new executive director, in hopes of expanding the electric rail-way museum and creating a destination spot for tourists from all over.

"I know a lot of cities would give their right arms to have what we have here all we have to do is get on board and do it, so let's get tourism going in Yakima," new Executive Director Karl Pasten, told KNDO.

He tells us, Sunday afternoon he had people visit the museum from British Columbia, China, and Japan!

The trolleys will run until late October.
