WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) - A hiker suffered a broken arm and hip injury in a fall Sunday while descending Mount Stuart in Chelan County.

The sheriff's office says 46-year-old Joanne Fulford lost her footing in a snow field and slid into large rocks at the 8,700-foot level of the mountain.

County search and rescue coordinators asked for a helicopter through the state Emergency Management office. A helicopter from Whidbey Island Naval Air Station responded and hoisted her off the mountain by 6 p.m.

She was transported to a hospital in Everett where she was reported in stable condition.
