OLYMPIA, WA – Governor Jay Inslee today announced that he is appointing Alex Ekstrom to Benton-Franklin Superior Court. Ekstrom will replace Judge Sal Mendoza, Jr. whom Inslee appointed last year.  Mendoza vacated the seat after being appointed to U.S. District Court.

Ekstrom has more than 15 years of trial and appellate court experience including criminal prosecution. He currently serves as Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington. Prior to that he worked as a deputy prosecuting attorney for Benton and Franklin counties.

“Alex has exceptional experience working throughout Central and Eastern Washington and has really established himself as a top-notch prosecutor,” Inslee said. “He brings a strong commitment to fighting crime and improving the safety of his community, and I know he'll be an excellent addition to the bench.”
