PASCO, WA - Pasco drivers should expect some delays starting Wednesday as crews begin construction on a stretch of Road 68.

For the first part of the project, city crews will be working on Road 68 between Sandifur Parkway and Wrigley Drive.

Starting Wednesday crews will be demolishing pavement and prepping to install new medians.

At least one lane in each direction will stay open at all times.

The city expects to finish this first phase of the project in about two weeks and at that point they will start on the next segment, with three parts total.

Pasco's Public Works Director Ahmad Qayoumi says most of the funding for this project comes from federal grants and they just want to make Road 68 more safe.

"And that will help alleviate some of the safety issues that we've identified, there were a number of accidents that happened within that area, because of people making left turns and that was difficult," Qayoumi said.

Left turns in and out of business will not be available.

Qayoumi asks drivers to be patient and to expect delays, he recommends using alternative routes whenever possible.

Some other projects in the works include adding another turning lane on Burden Blvd. to make it easier for drivers to get on the interstates.
