The Murder Trail Of Daniel Blizzard Continues But Should Wrap Up Friday

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, WA.- The murder trial of Daniel Blizzard continued today, Blizzard is accused of hiring a hit man to kill prominent real estate broker Vern Holbrook.

Adriana Mendez, a witness for the prosecution, has been on the stand since Monday, but her testimony that has taken longer than expected, finally wrapped up Thursday afternoon.

Defense attorney Peter Mazzone questioned Mendez regarding her interrogation video that was viewed at the trial on Wednesday.

He brought into question why she would jeopardize her own life and that of her children by bringing them to the assault.

"You weren't protecting yourself, you made yourself an accomplice and you certainly weren't protecting your kids were you?" Mazzone questioned.

"I thought I was," Mendez responded.

Mendez later admitted she was initially trying to protect Luis Gomez, her ex-boyfriend, and the hit man Daniel Blizzard hired to kill Holbrook.

The prosecution wrapped up Mendez's testimony by having her confirm surveillance tapes that showed her and Blizzard together at Sunshine Motel just days before Vern Holbrook's assault.
