Debris Removal Ends Friday at Site of Oso Mudslide

Posted: Updated:
OSO, WA - The cleanup work is nearly complete at the site of the Oso Mudslide. Friday is the last day crews are removing debris.

Workers have now searched and sifted through about 200,000 cubic yards of material. Personal belongings have been returned to families.

Snohomish County Emergency Management says more than 95% of the dirt and rock from the mudslide has now been redistributed on the site. The area has been seeded with grass and wildflowers.

The Department of Transportation says the work to repair to Highway 530 through the mud slide area is expected to wrap up by the end of the month. The disaster back in March killed 43 people.
