RICHLAND, WA- The Teal to Toe Ovarian Cancer Walk brought awareness to a symptoms of Ovarian Cancer.

The walk today honored women who died from ovarian cancer and gave out facts about what signs to look for.  These symptoms include everything from bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly, or frequent urination.  A Pap Test does not detect the cancer and women with a family history of breast cancer, colon cancer, or ovarian cancer have a higher risk.

“I'm so happy that people have signed up to run and to find out what does cause Ovarian Cancer, how do you face it, and how do you take care of it,” said Colleen Stock, Teal to Toe Supporter.

Ovarian cancer survivor Karla Schliep was happy to show her support at the event and said she is glad she did not give up her fight with the cancer.

“I feel much better.  I couldn't imagine what it would've been like if I had just given up in the beginning,” said Schliep.

Schliep's husband Jon Schliep supported the cause because he wanted more people to be aware of the cancer.

“We all have moms, we all have sisters, wives, daughters.  We all know some women in our lives and they're very important to us.  We should make sure they understand the symptoms and that they know what to look for,” said Jon Schliep.

Survivors said it is important to listen to your body and to tell doctors about any alarming symptoms and get checked out.
