RICHLAND, WA- A local church raised funds to help a boy who is battling Leukemia and his family.

Members at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Richland made arts and crafts Sunday as a way to raise money for their Helping Hands Committee.

This fundraiser was different because it raised money to help one of their members, who is a young boy battling Leukemia.  He has been in a Seattle hospital for several months and the church wanted to do their part to help.

“It's always nice to see the church family work together to benefit for the whole body itself.  It does take monetary means to help out the body every once in a while.  As a church member, it's nice to help out,” said Rob Snider, who is on the Helping Hands committee.

The church has other fundraisers throughout the year, but this was the first time they did a craft fair.  The fair sold jewelry, knitted objects, and had a silent auction.
