PASCO, WA- A Pasco man was taken to jail Sunday morning after police said he tried to sexually assault a woman inside the Fiesta Foods store in Pasco.

Police said a woman was shopping in Fiesta Foods around 11 p.m. Saturday night when she went to the restroom and was attacked by a white man. It happened at 10th and Lewis Street at Fiesta Foods.  Officers tracked him down a few hours later to a residence on the 2600 block of West 20th Avenue.

Employees heard the woman scream from the restroom and then heard the man scream after.

The woman fought off the attacker and helped police identify him along with video surveillance from the store.

Police quickly found 32-year-old Joshua Davenport the next morning.

“We just identified who he was and then we did some looking for where he might be living and staying.  Based on witnesses and information, we were able to track him as he was walking away from a residence that they just checked on,” said Captain Jim Raymond, Pasco Police Department.

Police said Davenport was shopping in the store before the attack happened.  He then hid inside the restroom before the woman entered.

Officers said it is a good idea to be aware of your surroundings at all times.
