NBCRightNow.com - We charge our phones, and our laptops, but what about our cars?

The fairly new group hosts events where they simply bring their electric cars and ask people if they want to test them out.

The Mid-Columbia Electric Vehicle Association is celebrating National Drive Electric Week with an event this Saturday at the Franklin PUD building in Pasco.

The parking lot there has a charging station for those vehicles.

They believe that many people just do not know enough about how driving electric can actually save some people money and how it is even more convenient than paying at the pump.

"It's a much better driving experience. the cars are quieter, they're smoother, there's no pollution, you charge at home while you sleep and it's 1/10 the cost of gas. I can't come up with any better reason to drive," Garrett Brown, Mid-Columbia Electric Vehicle Association

Some of the organizers work out at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

They explain, that it is not a lifestyle that fits everyone, but they would like to give people a taste of what it is like to drive electric.

Their event starts this Saturday at noon and goes until 4 p.m. at the Franklin PUD building.
