UPDATE / BENTON COUNTY, WA - Benton County Sheriff Deputies say an inmate who died after exercising on Saturday died had a pre-existing heart condition. 

Deputies say 29-year-old Jose Francisco Ramirez-Roque died of natural causes after collapsing in the jail exercise room. He was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Hospital where he later died.

PRESS RELEASE FROM BENTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE:  On September 20, 2014 at 1620 hours (4:20 pm) Benton County Jail medical staff responded to assist an inmate that suffered what is believed to have been a suspected heart attack while exercising in a recreation yard.  

Medical staff performed CPR until relieved by Kennewick Fire Department Paramedics.  

The individual was transported to Kadlec Medical Center and was declared deceased a short time later.  

The individuals name is being withheld until the next of kin can be notified.  

This incident is being investigated by Benton County Sheriff's Department Detectives to determine the ultimate cause of death.
