Farmers want access to use John Wayne Pioneer Trail

 ELLENSBURG, WA - The Kittitas County commissioners are asking the state Parks and Recreation Commission to allow farmers and ranchers to drive tractors and harvesters on the John Wayne Pioneer Trail.

In a letter this month, the commissioners said the trail is a valuable farmers need safe access to and from their field and pastures by the trail.


The former railroad bed is part of Iron Horse State Park which extends from North Bend to the Columbia River near Vantage.

The trail runs more than 90 through Kittitas County.
