Social Media Helps Local Organization Find Stolen Car

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, WA.- Helping Hands for Christ is a local non profit group, and they reported their truck stolen earlier this week, but thanks to social media they now have it back.

Founder David Gordon told KNDO he reported it missing and then put out the word about the stolen vehicle on Facebook.

He received thousands of comments and feedback from Facebook friends.

Someone spotted the stolen vehicle a short time later in an empty lot near Yakima Valley Community College.

“It was just great we were able to get to it, and get it back to the shop and get it rebuilt, so we can continue to help people in the valley,” Gordon told us.

Gordon says the truck's bumper was partially ripped off and the thieves had ransacked the inside of the vehicle.

While it will cost a bit extra to get the truck fixed, Gordon says he's thankful for the support the community has given.

He hopes he can continue to give back through his organization.
