PASCO, WA – 2nd Harvest held a celebration Wednesday for their 26,000 square foot extended distribution center. Just two years after putting up the new building in Pasco, the grand “re-opening” revealed over 40,000 square feet of room for donation storage. Four thousand square feet of that is for cold storage for fresh produce.

Last year, 2nd Harvest distributed 5.8 million pounds of food out of their warehouse. They are expecting to send out up to 9 million pounds by 2018. Jean Tucker, the Development Manager, is one of those excited to see the growth in two short years.
“This space is going to be filled up before too long, this is as empty as you'll ever see it because now we'll be able to bring a lot more food in here. Get more volunteers in and then get this food out to hungry people. It's very rewarding, I feel good coming to work every day” said Tucker.
Fifty volunteers from the Northwest Farm Credit Services jumped right to work, sorting through 40,000 pounds of potatoes donated by Underwood Farms.
